Author Visit at Webb!
Oct 27, 2021
The WEBB Wildcats are excited to host Catherine Gorski O’Connor as part of the visiting author in residence program, sponsored by the Wethersfield Education Foundation as a tribute to another local author, Mark Granato.
Catherine grew up here in Wethersfield, CT, attending Hanmer Elementary, and it is there that she began her passion for art & writing by creating greeting cards. It wasn’t until much later in her life that she took her love of creativity from a hobby to a career, publishing three different children’s books so far. Her first book, I Love My Socks was originally written as a thank you to her sister after receiving a lovely gift. Catherine enjoys taking risks with her craft and doesn’t ever fear an imperfect first draft.
“After all, pencil can be erased. Paper can be replaced. Paintings can be painted over and we can change the choices and decisions we make.”
On Wednesday, October 27th, Catherine will spend her day with many of our Webb Wildcat writers across Grades 2-6 sharing ideas for where writers can find inspiration for new projects, collaborating on class writing projects and conferring with individual writers on their own texts. You can learn more about Catherine on her blog.
